Within a recently available round at a four star local course, I ran across one of the special individuals I mentioned previously. Let’s call he “Bob “.My partner and I met Bob on the green of the tenth hole. I’d enjoyed a really solid front 9. You see, Bob’s assignment for the afternoon was to syringe the greens. I will almost hear the thoughts of the superintendent; “Ok, just support the hose on the brown area. We didn’t think lots of it whilst we got out of our cart and prepared going to your approach shots. I was away, so I pulled the magic number and stepped as much as my ball. I looked on the green hoping to see an open green with Bob and his hose off to the side somewhere. Instead, I saw Bob and his hose still right prior to the flag! His hose was literally wrapped around the hole and he was standing about twenty feet ahead of the pin! I considered to myself, “he mustn’t have observed us pull up, so I’ll wait “.
It wasn’t but a couple of seconds before he looked up at us, back off, and kept on watering like we weren’t even there! Now I began to have thrilled! What is he thinking? He’s got 100 ft. of hose all over the green and he’s standing right facing the pin! I made a decision to just stand there. How could I hit to a green covered by a point and Bob standing right by the pin? After what felt like 10 minutes but was probably just like 90 seconds, he finally began to move out of the way. However, as opposed to leaving the green, he moved from facing the pin to directly behind it leaving his hose extended throughout the green. So now as opposed to taking into consideration the shot that I’m trying hitting, I’m contemplating this moron and his hose on the green. I’m contemplating what will probably happen when I hit him or his hose!
Now, I’m standing on the ball saturated in anger and frustration and you can guess how good of a spin I hit. I chucked my 100 and sixty yard shot about 100 yards. I’ll spare you the facts of the residual hole, but it had been ugly. Whenever we finally got around the green, it was more of the exact same together with your buddy Bob. My partner had to ask Bob to maneuver his hose so that he could chip across the pin. Bob looked surprised and confused at the request! From then on hole, I was so angry and flustered that I lost my focus for the remaining portion of the round.
These types of things should not happen! Could you imagine the pro’s wanting to play with those types of distractions? I can simply notice it now, “Just hold on tight Ernie, let me finish syringing this green here. I is likely to be out of your way in a few minutes. Just sit tight.” Look, I understand that maintenance employees should do their job while we clients are reaping the reward of these labor. However, they have to be something we see briefly and forget about. We ought to keep in mind how well groomed the course is, how pretty the flowers are, and how lucky we could be out there. Days gone by thing we ought to consider is just a maintenance worker that is the legitimate reason behind an awful round. I realize that a lot of people will say, “You should be tough enough mentally to cope with distractions like that.” But, how do I be anticipated to be stronger mentally than the pros are anticipated to be? That’s how I need to be treated when I spend my hard-earned money to play a golf course! I need to feel just like Bob is pleased to see me! I want him to increase my positive experience on the golf course. Many of you do and you must be appreciated and thanked for doing your job the proper way.
